Our Industry : Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance technology

The first decade of the 21st century was characterized by a series of business, financial and political events that have shaken investor confidence and have sent lawmakers into a regulatory frenzy to ensure protection of national as well as individual economic well being and reduction of misbehavior and criminal conduct.

Regulators, especially at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the European Commission (EC) and others, have begun to place much more emphasis on Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (EGRC). This has led to measures that have been mandated either as policies by pan-national regulators or have been incorporated into national laws. The compliance to these regulations and laws is therefore becoming legally binding and is of paramount importance to organizations operating in industries such as Retail and financial services which have a big influence on ordinary individuals.

There are currently over 35 major regulations that have a significant impact on the IT organization of High Street Retailers, Insurers, Banks and other firms due to the need for the IT organizations of these institutions to comply with them, the need for the IT organization to support enterprise compliance, or both. As per leading Analysts, the annual spend in 2010 on the EGRC technology market was $50 bn worldwide of which over 50% was spent on Professional Services and Software alone.
